Better Than a Taco and Enchilada Combo

A couple of weeks ago I was at a bar with colleagues sharing an after-work drink.  Not a margarita bar, by the way.

Somehow our topic of conversation got to illegal aliens.  We had a mixed group -- politically speaking -- so there were probably a variety of opinions on the matter although no bigotry.

But I think I saw everyone's jaw drop open, at least figuratively, when I said "well I just finished reading this book called Ask a Mexican."  There was a big silence.  I'm sure these very educated people were thinking what the hell could such a book be about.  Then I explained.

Rather than write here what I told them, I'll just say here that it's a funny book and every gabacho in these here Los Estados Unidos could probably learn something from it.  Check it out if you dare, but be careful when you talk about it!

Introducing vmSight

Whew!  Our new company, vmSight, went live yesterday.  We took the identity tracking and network monitoring technology that we developed the last few years at Trusted Network Technologies and we've launched a new company completely focused on virtual network intelligence -- network monitoring and reporting in the virtual environment.  I'm really excited about this new focus, although ... um, well, a little busy too.

What's the Deal with Oprah's Magazine?

My wife used to subscribe to it, but she doesn't anymore.  I've never read it, so for all I know it's a great magazine.  But the other day while standing in the grocery checkout line trying to herd my four year old daughter, having seen this magazine in a grocery magazine rack dozens of times before, something hit me.

Oprah puts a picture of herself on every cover of O, The Oprah Magazine.  It's enough that she names everything after herself.  But what causes a person to say yeah, sure, I'll put my picture on every single cover?  I don't think Martha Stewart does it.  I know if Trump had a magazine he'd put himself on every cover, but he'd probably allow someone else in the picture too ... you know, Donald and the beautiful people ... here's Donald playing golf with Matthew McConaughey, and here's Donald playing tennis with Kournikova.  He'd have to let Melania in at least 4 covers a year, I think it was one of her terms in the pre-nup.

But with Oprah it's just Oprah all the time.  What the heck is up with that?

PS after writing the above I just searched for an answer and found that someone asked this very question at Yahoo!Answers about a week ago.  Of course, no one had a good answer.  But maybe it's a sign that this question is rippling through human consciousness and Oprah might need to make a change or it will become a topic on Tyra's and Ellen's shows.
