I have been designing and delivering software applications for over 20 years. My first job was writing film production software for author/director Michael Crichton -- I dropped out of the computer science program at UCLA to work full-time because I was learning a lot more programming on the job than in the classroom, so I guess you could say I'm more enamored with practice than theory.
My career and interests are varied. "Back in the day" I worked at Lotus where I learned about great development teams and collaboration. I was the first employee and head of development at Radnet where we built web-based groupware. Our technology was acquired by Epiphany, where I helped design and deliver a new generation of applications driven by real-time intelligence. I also served as an early technical advisor at Clearspring .
My next start-up was Trusted Network Technologies where I led product design and engineering. Using TNT's identification and network monitoring technology, we started a new company in the virtualization space called vmSight where I am currently President.
Last but not least I'm a husband and father. I play tennis, a little guitar, some golf when I have time, and scuba diving although not much of that lately. I'll read just about anything by William Gibson, Robert Stone and Michael Lewis. Among musicians I particularly like Bob Dylan, Kate Bush (not so much recently), and Gil Scott-Heron. Laurie Anderson is amazing and without category (she was the first and only artist-in-residence at NASA after all). I'm a big Aaron Sorkin fan.
